They say that you can’t judge a book by its’ cover, and Lorraine Haughton may know what that means better than anyone.  Born in Roosevelt, Long Island to parents of Jamaican descent, Lorraine was raised in a neighborhood often portrayed in the media as underprivileged by Long Island’s wealthy standards.  However Lorraine’s childhood was rich with love and laughter, and infused with a healthy emphasis on education.  The youngest of 4 children, Lorraine excelled academically in high school, and went on to attend the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, where she graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.  Always an avid writer, it was her dream to one day sit at the helm of a major magazine.

Ultimately Lorraine’s love of writing brought her back home to New York, where she landed a fashion assistant position at Seventeen Magazine.  Although Lorraine has always considered herself fashion savvy, she found the fashion world to be unfulfilling, and eventually left Seventeen in search of a coveted writing position.  But fate had a different plan: a chance conversation with an old college buddy led to an interview at NBC Television Network, for their prestigious PAGE program.  Although television was not an arena Lorraine ever anticipated going into, she accepted the PAGE position, and within three months into the program, was offered a full-time Assistant Producer position in the NBC Advertising and Promotion department.   During her tenure at NBC, Lorraine worked closely with several top-notch names in television news, including Katie Couric, Tom Brokaw, Matt Lauer, Hoda Kotb, Jane Pauley, and Al Roker.

After three successful years at NBC, Lorraine left to further explore the world of entertainment, landing at various production jobs at the YES Network (television network of the World Champion New York Yankees baseball team), Al Roker’s production company, B. Smith’s Discovery Channel show, Bill Geddie Productions (Executive Producer of The View), The 2000 Grammy Awards, country star Naomi Judd’s Hallmark Channel show, Stacy London from “What Not To Wear’s” TLC talk show, as well as other MTV, BET, HGTV and Food Network shows.   Lorraine is currently the Hot Topics Producer for the syndicated talk show hit, “The Wendy Williams Show,” which tapes LIVE daily in New York City and airs on the FOX Network, with nightly re-runs on BET.

When not producing for television, Lorraine enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering with various media and non-profit organizations including the Urban League of Long Island, and attending worship services at Allen AME Church in Queens, NY, where she resides.
