DJ Jon Quick®- the spinography

Since the age of 15, John Byers aka DJ Jon Quick has been a true student of
the mastermixing/dj game. A turntablelist for over 20 years, he has developed
a unique classic yet up to date sound that separates him from most of your
average djs.

Growing up next to West Virginia State College, a historic black college a few miles
outside of Charleston, West Virginia, he befriended a student teacher from NYC
who noticed him spinning at one of his high school dances. The student teacher
quickly had Jon spinning at assorted college fraternity and sorority functions. Once
Jon had left the area for Marshall University, he found out his reputation as one of
the premier djs in the area had preceded him. As a freshman, he and a classmate
from Queens, NY had started a hiphop show called "Basslines". It quickly became the
number one rated shows in the metro area on friday nights amongst the 18-34
audience according to Arbitron ratings. He immediately became a favorite on the
college dj circuit, traveling to Ohio University, Ohio State University, Morehead State,
West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburgh just to name a few. By his
sophomore year he had became the most popular dj on West Virginia's only black
owned station, WEYS 90.9 FM. His show, "The HipHop Assault" boasted the number
one rating in the 18-34 demographic. His reign lasted from the spring of 86 until the
station was taken off of the air due to financial difficulties. At one point he had a
weekly feature on WOWK-TV Channel 13, explaining the history of hiphop and the
culture of djing.

After moving to NY in 1990 to pursue a masters degree, Jon's path took him down the
road of child sociology. He continued to work in this field through the early 90's but in his spare time he would meet up with 98.7 Kiss FM's Jay "Mixin" Dixon to work on remixes at the station and to open up for Jay at various club functions. Jon studied the NYC club circuit for several years before branching out on his own. He realized that the competition in NYC was incomparable but he felt by through networking and hard work he could be a success in the Big Apple due to his unique style of mastermixing.

Nowadays you can catch DJ Jon Quick aka Mr. Fantastic, spinning somewhere virtually
every weekend. Whether its rockin' downtown NYC for his monthly "Krush Groove" series or rockin’ another birthday party for his celeb friends,
you can bet the place will be packed with many of his loyal cult following he's developed
over time. His mixes have been featured on XM Radio's "Spitkicker Radio Show",  Sirius Sattelite Radio, Kiss FM, (NYC) and several dj websites. He has done underground remixes for the rapper K-OS and Bad Boy vocalist Cheri Dennis. DJ Jon Quick has established himself as one of the hottest djs to hit the NY metro area in quite some time and its only a matter of time until he develops into a world reknown turntable legend.
